Anthony Edwards has been the golden child of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics as one of their youngest members and the one presumed to be the team's biggest star in the future. The former No. 1 overall pick spoke to Andscape and opened up on his experience of playing with his idol Kevin Durant , mentioning him and LeBron James in the same breath as the two examples he wants to continue modeling himself after.

“It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. Hell yeah. He and ‘Bron are the best two team people. They always want to see the person next to them shine. I’m the same way. It’s perfect.”

Edwards also opened up on the upcoming path for Team USA, beginning with their quarter-final matchup against Brazil.

“It’s the knockout rounds, all the teams that are really good teams. They got NBA players. They compete at a high level. They’re supposed to be hard. I feel like we are playing good. I got to clean up the sloppy turnovers. My bad. Pass the ball a little more. Defend a little better. But we will be all right.”

Edwards has been one of the key rotation players for Team USA at the Olympics, averaging 16.7 points on 63.3% shooting from the field and 53.8% from three. He's also averaging 2.0 steals per game, showing off his impactful two-way play. He dominated in the USA's latest win over Puerto Rico, dropping 26 points on 15 shots in the game.

Ant has publicly acknowledged Kevin Durant as one of his favorite players and influences repeatedly, but the Timberwolves star seems to also be developing a stronger relationship with LeBron, who is arguably the best player of this generation.

What Ant learns from these two and Stephen Curry over the Olympics might have a lasting impact on the NBA for the next decade, similar to how playing alongside Kobe Bryant in 2008 helped LeBron establish himself as a championship-winning superstar.

Draymond Green Believes Anthony Edwards Is Getting The Keys To Team USA's Future

Draymond Green might not have made the cut to play at the Olympics but has been closely watching the action from home. One thing the former Defensive Player of the Year has noticed is that James, Curry, and Durant are clearly looking to hand the keys of Team USA to Edwards .

"Ant-Man especially he continues to grow and I think what I love most is the way Bron, Steph, and KD are embracing him to like be that next young guy up and kind of giving him the keys to the team in a sense like there If you're watching these games, he's running the show whenever he's on the floor."

"It's his show He was half joking when he said now they're gonna have to learn how to fit around me. But I said half joking, 'cause he was definitely serious and he meant it, but he says it and does it and go about it in a way where he's confident as hell and very close to cocky."

Edwards has ascended more rapidly than anybody would have anticipated over the last year, rubbing shoulders with the greats in the NBA. With this sort of mentorship over the summer, Ant could be ready to take over the NBA next season.
