According to reports coming out of Argentina, Liverpool could be about to make an offer for a teenager who has been catching the eye at the Olympics .
Argentina’s quest for a gold medal is now over following defeat to France, and their run to the quarter-finals was certainly packed with incidents. Their opening game against Morocco was delayed by nearly two hours after fans invaded the pitch , while their final outing was marred by ugly scenes as former Red Javier Mascherano clashed with Thierry Henry .
But along the way, one player may well have caught the eye of Arne Slot and Richard Hughes .

Reports from Argentine outlet TyC Sports have suggested that Liverpool is interested in Lanus defender Julio Soler. The 19-year-old played in all four games for his country at the Olympics, and even grabbed an assist during that chaotic opening game against Morocco.
Lanus is said to have placed a $15m (£12m/€13.7m) price tag on the left-back. Not only that, but TyC reporter Mariano Antico has suggested that a formal offer is likely to be made by the Reds.
The emergence of a new name has inevitably led some fans to start doing their own research, and take a look at how Soler compares to the options already at Liverpool.
LFC Transfer Room on X has drawn a comparison with current Reds left-back Andy Robertson , who Soler would likely be a long-term replacement for if he were to make the move to Anfield .
Both players are similar in stature, with Soler standing just an inch smaller than Robertson. Both players are also very positive in their dribbling and passing, something that will no doubt appeal to Liverpool.
Soler still has some way to go before he could be considered on the same level as Robertson, although at just 19, there is still plenty of room for develop.
Liverpool.com says: Soler looks an interesting case. In truth, there won’t be too many Liverpool fans aware of him, so it would perhaps be a case of trusting the process from the likes of Hughes and Michael Edwards.
It would be something of a departure from Liverpool to sign a player straight from South America, given the club tends to wait for them to make the move to Europe first. If he’s good enough though, it’s a move the Reds should be considering – if nothing else, just to prevent them from potentially shelling out even more money further down the line.
