The latest season of Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries re-examines the brutal murder case of Amanda Antoni that occurred in October 2015. The episode “Body in the Basement” reveals startling details about the case and how an innocent woman was allegedly killed in her home’s basement. The episode would also shed light on her relationship with her husband, Lee Antoni. Volume 4 of Unsolved Mysteries is available for streaming on Netflix.

According to CBC, Lee Antoni called 911 and said that he found his wife’s body lying on the basement floor. The murder allegedly took place when Lee was out of town. The documentary revealed Amanda Antoni was 20 years old when she left home and met Lee. They met through a mutual friend and soon started sharing an apartment. In 2009, the couple tied the knot. In the initial part of their relationship, Lee partied frequently, and Amanda felt frustrated. Moreover, the couple had fights because Lee didn’t have a stable job.

After Amanda Antoni’s death, police saw Lee Antoni as a person of interest. Citing the interrogation, the documentary revealed Lee and Amanda initially decided to travel together to Saskatchewan. However, Amanda decided to stay home at the last moment due to her migraines. Lee stayed in touch with his wife till he reached his mother’s house, but he suspected something was wrong when he didn’t receive a reply from her for a whole day. When he arrived at his home in Calgary, Lee found his wife’s lifeless body in the basement.

The true crime series reveals that the police did have Lee Antoni as a person of interest. Moreover, he was fine with authorities doing their job and cooperated with them. In the documentary, Lee also revealed that he and his wife, Amanda Antoni, were in constant touch with each other throughout the journey. He said he asked about her headaches, to which she replied they were “still bad.” The next evening, Lee called Amanda and had a good conversation. However, the call disconnected abruptly after their dog suddenly started barking.

According to the documentary, Lee Antoni couldn’t contact Amanda Antoni for an entire day after the call. So, he decided to leave his mother’s house and surprise his wife. However, when he reached there, he found her dead body. Although Amanda’s autopsy report noted that she died due to blunt-force trauma, it also revealed that she didn’t have any brain trauma or any severe injuries except a broken right orbital bone. Meanwhile, the DNA samples indicated that the DNA from the fingerprints, footprints, and hair belonged to Amanda.

Per the documentary, Lee Antoni remains a resident of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Moreover, the case remains unsolved to date.
