Victory Korean movie: When is the release date?

Victory will hit the theaters on Wednesday, August 14, in South Korea. The production team has not announced a worldwide premiere date. Moreover, it is unclear if the movie will stream on any OTT platform.

Filmmaker Park Bum-Soo has directed the sports film. She is known for helming Red Carpet and Single in Seoul. In an interview with Forbes , Bum-Soo spoke about the project. She said, “A movie that you turn to during difficult times—it’s such a meaningful idea. I hope Victory can become that kind of movie for someone.”

Victory Korean movie: Cast & Plot

Victory Korean movie stars Lee Hyeri in the main role. The Girl’s Day band member returns to the silver after six years. She is known for her roles in K-dramas, such as My Roommate is a Gumiho, Reply 1988, and Hyde, Jekyll, Me. Her upcoming series is Friendly Rivalry.

Meanwhile, in the new Korean film, Hyeri plays Pil Sun, a high school student with a passion for dance. Her school teachers think her of as a troublemaker. Speaking about her role to Forbes, she said, “It was a role I had always wanted to try if the opportunity arose. The director said, ‘I hope Pil Sun gives off a cool older sister vibe that your friends would want to emulate,’ and I really liked that aspect.”

She added, “Pil Sun is resilient. She knows how to speak her mind confidently anywhere and is loyal, knowing when to protect the weak. I think this makes her a character that audiences can easily empathize with.” Pil Sun aims to become a dancer and decides with her best friend Mi Na to form a cheerleading squad.

Soon she realizes that cheerleading is not just dancing but more. Pil Sun and Mi Na luckily find Se Hyun, who is a trained cheerleader. In the drama, Park Se-Wan plays Mi Na and Jo Aram essays the role of Se Hyun. According to the movie trailer, the trio holds auditions for their team.

Referring to the audition sequence, director Bum-Soo mentioned, “Real auditions were more challenging than those portrayed in the movie. We had to find the most perfect person with unique looks, skills, dancing, acting, etc., and ultimately succeeded in finding them.” She also informed that the girls, who the three friends select in the film, are not dancers in real life. Furthermore, the characters learned the cheerleading formations and steps after practicing “tirelessly for months.”

Aside from the aforementioned cast members, Victory also stars Lee Jung-Ha, Choi Ji-Su, Baek So-Hyun, Kwon Yoo-Na, Lee Han-Ju, Yeom Ji-Young, and Lee Chan-Hyung. The movie will premiere on August 14 in South Korea. Stay tuned for more updates.
