Scream vet Matthew Lillard has shared a brand new update regarding the current status of Blumhouse‘s upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie.

In the 2023 adaptation, Lillard played the role of Steve Raglan/William Afton, who was initially introduced as a career counselor but was later revealed as the film’s main antagonist.

What is the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie update?

Lillard’s character was last seen getting drag away by the animatronics, as Freddy Fazber’s Pizzeria collapses. While responding to a question about him potentially joining Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series, Lillard confirmed he’s currently scheduled to start filming the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie sometime in October.

“We are journeymen on a career path… sure, I would love to… in some way, honor the original show, to give fans something fun,” Lillard said during an interview with Jaybee and Milly on YouTube. “I’m available. I’m doing a TV show right now, I’m doing FNAF in October, but I’m available. If anyone wants me, they can find me if they need me.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s was based on Scott Cawthon’s popular horror video game of the same name. The first film was directed by Emma Tammi from a screenplay she co-wrote with game creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. At the moment, it’s unclear if Tammi will direct the sequel. Besides Lillard, the first installment also starred Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games films), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy), Mary Stuart Masterson (Some Kind of Wonderful), Elizabeth Lail (You), and Kat Conner Sterling (A Week Away).
