Jon B is not a fan of Justin Timberlake’s 2024 comeback album Everything I Thought It Was. As a guest on the Can We Talk RNB podcast last month with host Ian Von, the 49-year-old revealed his interpretation of Timberlake’s “No Angels” music video and additional new music.

“That new single is trash,” he suggested after joking that Timberlake would not be in his current position without his success. “I’m not feeling his music at all anymore. And the video is even more trash… I don’t like all this demonic sh*t. You would sell your soul to be popular or something? Or to give your allegiance some hidden power behind the scenes?”

He continued, “We making R&B music over here. Love music… and I stand in the face of fear and hatred and anger and sadness, like an angel of light.”

The former NSYNC member released the “No Angels” music video in March 2024. Directed by Ti West, the clip takes the 43-year-old pop star to a dance club where guests enjoy drinks and dance under red lights. As the party progresses, Timberlake’s partner licks his face, leaving him surrounded by the mysterious crowd, before scratching him under the eye.

After the injury, she and everyone else’s eyes turn white and they collectively grab at the singer. Another Justin Timberlake, wearing all-black and dark sunglasses enters the dance floor. The music video’s leading lady then reveals a large set of wings as dark liquid spills from her mouth. What appears to be blood covers the entire party as the revelers continue with their celebration.

Earlier this year , Jon B released the Jon B., Tank, and Brady Watt-produced single “Waiting On You” and teased his own 2024 return to music. Announced in January, the album of the same name was set for a February release, although it has not yet dropped. At the time, the singer noted features from Alex Isley, Donell Jones, and Rick Ross.

“Entering 2024 focused and grounded happy with every choice that led me to this moment of stillness,” explained Jon B at the time.

“2023 taught me you are the truest testament to how your mindset creates your reality. To 2024 being abundantly fruitful for everyone in relationships, finances, and dreams.”
