Liverpool is being linked with a transfer move for Valencia and Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili , who impressed with his national side during the summer's European Championship in Germany.

Spanish outlet Revelo reports that Liverpool has already held discussions with Valencia to talk through a transfer move for the 23-year-old. Mamardashvili, it is suggested, could sign for a fee of $33m (£26m/€30m) but then be loaned out until Alisson Becker leaves Anfield , at which point he could take over from the Brazilian.

The report claims that Liverpool would want to loan Mamardashvili to another Premier League club. Bournemouth, it states, is also interested in signing him from Valencia, so that is suggested as one option.

Standing at just shy of two meters tall, Mamardashvili has played 94 times for Valencia since moving to the La Liga side from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021. This time last month when Chelsea and Newcastle United were being linked, Fabrizio Romano reported that Valencia would be prepared to cash in on the player having already signed Stole Dimitrievski from Rayo Vallecano as his replacement.

Speaking to Liverpool.com last month, former Reds shot-stopper David James said he was impressed with Mamardashvili during Euro 2024 , where he was working as an analyst for UEFA. "Mamardashvili was amazing at saving shots," he said, noting, however, that no goalkeeper in the world is as complete as Alisson is at the moment.

Alisson remains the best in the world, James insisted. "There is no one out there at the moment who will change my mind at the moment," he added.

Liverpool.com says: When it comes to replacing Alisson, that is an almost impossible job. As James explained, no one comes close to the Brazilian in terms of the overall package that he offers. At 31, though, Alisson could still have a long career ahead of him as Liverpool's number one. There have been no signs yet that he would need to be replaced any time soon.
