Biles herself had just narrowly missed out on winning gold , being edged out by Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, forcing the U. S. star to settle for silver. This result brought an end to Biles' almost unbelievable floor record.
Chiles experienced a whirlwind of emotions, having initially finished the event in fifth place. However, several score changes from the judges soon saw the American elevated to third, earning her a spot on the podium and her first individual Olympic medal.
The moment Chiles was announced as the bronze medallist was captured by the TV cameras, as she quickly realised her achievement with a change of the leaderboard on the stadium scoreboard. Unable to contain their excitement, she was greeted by Biles as they shared an emotional hug.

The path to this summer's Olympics has been a tough one for Chiles, having endured the heartache of losing both her aunt and grandfather in 2023. Despite being uncertain about competing in Paris, she found motivation through her late grandpa's memory.
Chiles opened up to Olympics.com: "When I came back, after losing my grandpa. I was like, 'I don't think my grandpa would want me to quit right now," and added, "He would be very disappointed in me if I was just like, you know what, I'm done.'".
Holding their memories close, she resolved, "With having him in my mind, in my heart, and even my aunt, I was like, you know what, I'm just going to continue my dream and continue to push as hard as I can."
Currently, Biles and Chiles' medal haul includes individual accolades as well as team golds won last week.
