The Hip-Hop world is in mourning following the passing of Foxx, the beloved former tour manager for the iconic group, M.O.P.

Foxx’s death was first reported on Saturday, August 4, by longtime friend and collaborator DJ Kid Capri . She was 55 years old and had been battling a debilitating autoimmune disease known as scleroderma for the past 15 years.

Kid Capri, a renowned DJ and close friend of Foxx, shared a heartfelt tribute detailing the final moments of Foxx’s life. According to Capri, Foxx was removed from life support on Friday, August 2, a decision she had made prior to her passing. Capri described the emotional visit to Foxx in the hospital, expressing profound sadness at the loss, but also gratitude for the opportunity to say goodbye.

“I went to the hospital to see you last night, what I saw had me walking out the room crying,” Capri wrote in his tribute to the rapper on Instagram.

“A week ago or so, you requested that people come see you before August 2, that’s when you wanted to be taken off the respirator. Yesterday was August 2nd, and I would have had so much regret if I didn’t make it there, because today you’re gone. You were holding on last night after they took you off the machine; it was very hard to leave you behind in that hospital room, knowing I would never see you again. But my memory of you will last forever.”

Capri, a fellow Bronx native who worked with Foxx during her time with the female rap group Lethal, also reflected on Foxx’s significant impact on the Hip-Hop community, especially her role with M.O.P. “Years after that, you linked up with @famem.o.p @billydanzem.o.p , the great hip hop group M.O.P. who I got a lot of love and respect for,” Capri noted.

“Not only because of how dope they are, but because you took them around the world so that you could see things you never saw before. You were on records and in videos, and you got the chance to make people happy that you didn’t even know.”

Foxx was known for her remarkable personality and her integral role in M.O.P.’s journey to fame. She often referred to herself as a motherly figure to the group, stating, “M.O.P. wouldn’t get nowhere if it wasn’t for me. I’m like their Mother Goose. They don’t got no mothers, no fathers, none of that sh*t. I can put them in check, and I’m probably the only one that can do that, partly because I’m older than them.”

    Rest in peace, Foxx.
