Adele abruptly stops Munich concert to watch tense Paris Olympics 100-meter race

Adele put the Olympics center stage while performing her over-the-top Munich concert.

The songstress couldn't make it to Paris for the sporting event as she continues a string of shows. However, that doesn't mean that she wouldn't be tuning in. Instead of catching up later, she put the live coverage up on her concert screens . Adele's move to take in the moment with fans came after a moment Friday where she geeked out over the Olympics.

She said: "I was watching world-class athletes being like, 'Oh, that ending was a bit dodgy, wasn’t it? Her legs weren’t really straight.' Meanwhile, if I tried anything that they do, I would be dead. I’d absolutely die if I tried to even do a little any kind of move at all."

Adele put the track and field women’s 100-meter up on the stage, watching the contentious moment with excitement. Sha’Carri Richardson was favored to win the event and Adele was confidently rooting for her. Thankfully, the track star secured the silver medal for Team USA. Julien Alfred claimed gold for Saint Lucia.

Online, fans loved Adele's special salute to the Olympics. One fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "That's right! The whole world always stops to watch the 100m race! There is nothing quite like it. Even when you are making love and hear that the 100m race is about to start, you'd stop to watch it and then continue."

"Sometimes you have to just take a beat and watch a moment in Olympic history," said a second. A third chimed in: "Wow - the whole world was watching!"

Some, though, took aim at Adele's hefty ticket prices, claiming that her move was unfair for those who spent top dollar to watch perform, only to be met with sports instead. "Dang people paid all this money to watch the games lol," wrote a fan. Another penned: "That's awesome too bad her tickets are so expensive."

Her ten-day residency in the city took place at a custom-built stadium meant to hold 74,000 people per night. It included a small carnival celebration outside of the venue with food, drinks, and rides that fans could stop to enjoy on their way in.
