Arne Slot has 3 players who fit his desired transfer criteria as Reds boss to be cautious

Arne Slot has outlined Liverpool's transfer plans by claiming that only players who meet the "really high bar" set by the current squad will be moving to Anfield this summer.

It means that only a very small pool of players are likely to be considered for a move to Merseyside over the next few weeks but Slot remains happy with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp and is not in any rush to make further additions.

And while the Dutchman does admit that sporting director Richard Hughes is busy scouring the market, he claims that it's not easy to find players who will instantly improve the team. Following Saturday's victory over Manchester United , he told reporters: "The bar is really high for new signings because we have so many good players.

"It is not so easy to first find a player to meet those standards and then ask, 'Is he available?' Then we have to find an agreement with them, so it is not always easy to find a player who can help us but Richard is working hard on it and let's see what comes from this."

Slot adds that there is no particular number in mind nor is there any preference over positions. However, Liverpool.com has identified three players who certainly fit the criteria to be considered for a move to Anfield.

The first of those is Goncalo Inacio. The Sporting Lisbon center-back has been linked with a move to Liverpool on a number of occasions this summer and he is certainly the type of player Slot would deem suitable for his specific high standards. Furthermore, the Reds remain intent on signing a new center-back.

At just 22-years-old, the Portuguese is the perfect long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk in defense but would also act as the ideal center-back partner for him this season. Inacio also has plenty of experience at the top end of the game despite his tender age, having made more than 170 appearances for Sporting since 2020.

Noted for his composure, positioning and passing ability, Inacio has already set the standards for himself. And this would be a realistic signing too should Liverpool make a move, with reports suggesting it would take $65million (£51million/€60million) to activate the defender's release clause this summer.

The second player who Liverpool could sign that would meet Slot's aforementioned high standards is Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich , who has already been linked with a move to Anfield after entering the final year of his contract in Bavaria.

There would certainly be no doubts over whether the German stalwart could meet the high bar set at Liverpool, having become one of the most important players for club and country in recent years. Kimmich has racked up almost 400 appearances for Bayern and 100 for Germany and won an impressive 20 trophies.

Perhaps the most important factor, however, is how Kimmich would be the ideal candidate to fill the No. 6 void Slot so desperately craves. Despite being a natural right-back, the German has transitioned into one of Europe's best defensive midfielders in recent years - and could be available for just $51m (£40m/€46m) .

Last but not least, and perhaps most controversially, Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo take the final place in this list. The Brazilian winger would be the ideal upgrade to Liverpool's current front line and is arguably better than all of the forwards at Anfield bar Mohamed Salah .

Having operated under Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti for the last five years, claimed 11 trophies including three La Liga's and two Champions League's, Rodrygo is already playing at the top of his game. The 23-year-old banged in 17 goals and registered nine assists last season too, despite being surrounded by a number of other superstars.

This year, however, it may be a superstar too far. Following Kylian Mbappe's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, there have been rumors suggesting an exit for Rodrygo could be on the cards, with links to Liverpool already cropping up . Anfield would provide guaranteed minutes for the Brazilian, who could force a move away from Spain to avoid a frustrating season on the bench.
