MGK Admits He 'Misrepresented' His Mom 'A Lot': 'I Was Speaking My Truth'

Machine Gun Kelly has been vocal about his troubled past with his mother, but he is now opening up more about their relationship and some of his regrets surrounding it.

MGK appeared on the season eight premiere of Bunnie XO 's Dumb Blonde podcast where he admitted that he "misrepresented" his mother "a lot" during the early years of his career but stood firm that he was speaking his truth. The "bloody valentine" musician and his mom were estranged for several years after she left the family when he was young, with MGK recalling, "You gotta get to me... come f---ing find me no matter what it takes," per Billboard .

"I would like to say for the record I love my mom dearly and I misrepresented her a lot early in my career," MGK said. "And not misrepresented in the sense of not speaking truth. I was speaking my truth, but I didn't give the masses the chance to understand her truth."

MGK has channeled his complicated feelings about his mother through music, including in the track "Burning Memories" from his 2019 album Hotel Diablo that features lyrics like, "How'd you leave your only child at nine for another dude?/ All the years that you ignore me left me sleepless in the bed/ I hope daddy got some kids because your only son is dead/ I spent 20 years waiting on the stairs/ Now I'm finished thinking anyone'll ever hear these prayers."

However, after getting some encouragement from his fans , the mother-son duo reunited in 2021, with the Mainstream Sellout artist sharing a photo of the pair together the following year "introducing my mom."

The rapper/rocker and Bunnie XO recently both appeared in the new music video for her husband Jelly Roll and MGK's new track "Lonely Road," which also featured Transformers actress Megan Fox sporting a baby bump .
