A lyric notebook that once belonged to Lil Wayne is up for grabs. According to TMZ, the Hip-Hop artifact is officially on the market after a 5-year legal battle. The tabloid reports the handwritten collection of lyrics and doodles is on sale for $5 million, up from a $250,000 price tag.

Moment In Time, a company that facilitates the buying and selling of rare items, defended raising the price on the website, noting Lil Wayne as “one of the greatest rappers ever.” The listing on Moment In Time features a February court filing listing Louis R. Koerner Jr. as the attorney representing the owner of the notebook, who is not listed by name.

The court ruled that the plaintiff had ownership of the item due to the waiver of citation, acceptance of service, and unopposed motion for entry of the judgment, as Lil Wayne nor a lawyer representing the rapper was present.

Rapper Lil Wayne arrives at the BET Awards 05 at the Kodak Theatre on June 28, 2005 in Hollywood, California.

In 2019, the man first initiated the sale of the notebook, with a $250,000 listing price. The lyrics to the songs “We On Fire” and “I Feel,” are penned on the slightly-damaged, aged papers. The owner of the book allegedly found it in a car once owned by an affiliate of Cash Money Records.

He stored the notebook in a box in his garage and was forced to leave the property in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Upon his return, many of his belongings were destroyed, however, the book only sustained light water damage.

According to XXL, Lil Wayne moved to halt the sale, with him and his legal team claiming that he had once lost the notebook, never officially giving up control. Weezy’s camp also claimed that the now official owner, who found it “absconded Wayne’s personal item and hid it for years until he felt it was time to cash in.”
