Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega is in final negotiations to star opposite Anyone But You star Glen Powell in J.J. Abrams’ secret Warner Bros. movie.

The untitled project will reportedly be about “a young married couple struggling to survive against a supernatural entity.” Abrams is expected to direct from a screenplay he wrote. The Star Trek director will also serve as a producer through his Bad Robot production banner. This would be Abrams’ first directorial movie, after five years since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

What’s next for Jenna Ortega & Glen Powell?

At the moment, Ortega is currently in production for Wednesday Season 2, where she’s set to reprise the titular iconic character. Before starring in Abrams’ secret movie, she will first appear in Tim Burton’s highly-anticipated Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. The horror comedy will arrive in theaters on September 4, 2024. She is also attached to star in a few upcoming movies, including: Taika Waititi’s film adaptation of Klara and the Sun with Amy Adams and Natasha Lyonne; and the black comedy Death of a Unicorn with Paul Rudd.

As for Powell, he most recently starred in Lee Isaac Chung’s disaster movie Twisters, which had received positive reviews. He will next be seen in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man remake, based on Stephen King’s dystopian thriller novel of the same name. Following his breakout role in Top Gun: Maverick, he is expected to reunite with Tom Cruise in its sequel, which is in development at Paramount Pictures.
