The Daily Show will look a little different this week, as Jon Stewart is confirmed to be absent from the program.

According to an official statement shared with several news outlets , Stewart, 61, will not be hosting the program as he "recently tested positive for Covid-19, therefore he will not be hosting this week."

The statement continued, noting that Stewart is set to return next week, beginning on Monday, Aug. 12, presumably, so long as he's no longer feeling under the weather.

As for who will take over his desk, Monday's installment of the long-running program will kick off at its usual 11/10c with Michael Kosta . As for the rest of this week's shows, they will be tackled by their usual hosts and correspondents, Kosta, Desi Lydic and Ronny Chieng .

The guest line-up also appears to still be locked in as Comedy Central revealed this week's appearances will go ahead as planned despite Stewart's absence, per information shared with TVLine .

On Monday, Aug. 5, author and publisher Roxane Gay will be promoting her ebook/audiobook Stand Your Ground, followed by actor, writer and producer Ed Helms on Tuesday to discuss his SNAFU podcast. Wednesday's guests have not yet been announced, while comedian Hannah Berner will stop by on Thursday, Aug. 8, to chat about the upcoming Netflix standup special, We Ride at Dawn .

This is Stewart's first season back at The Daily Show since his 2015 departure. In January, after more than eight years away from the gig that he first began hosting in 1999, it was announced that the 61-year-old would return to the show to host its Monday night broadcast beginning in February 2024, running through the upcoming presidential election this fall.
