The Summer Olympics are in full swing, and I all I can think about is skiing.
Beach volleyball? I wish they were playing on snow. Trap and skeet shooting? If only I was watching the biathlon instead. Cycling? Less wheels, more wax and base grinds, please. We'll have to wait a few more measly months before the snow starts falling once again, and while I'm not 100% sure I won't go completely insane before that happens, I'm hoping my prior experience of enduring 27 summers will help.

5. The Ultimate Summer Trifecta: Ski, Bike, Paddle Board in One Day

Synopsis: I had the pleasure of visiting Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood, Oregon recently thanks to our friends at 5-Hour Energy. Check out my Ultimate Summer Trifecta video in which I skied, mountain biked, and paddle boarded all in the same day.
Editor's Thoughts: This day at Mt. Hood was a dream come true. I've long yearned to carve a July turn on the Palmer Snowfield, and it lived up to the hype. I could have skied all week long, but had nearly as much fun cramming three sports into one day.

Editor's Thoughts: Hand up. I'm a Summer hater. I love Fall, Winter (duh), and Spring, but when temps start creeping above 75 degrees Fahrenheit, I legitimately have to work through a short phase of depression. The heat irks me to no end, but I can admit that Ian laid out some excellent points as to why the season isn't all bad. Just as long as Ian doesn't start actually loving summer more than winter, I support him.

Synopsis: POWDER writer Ella Boyd dives into the world of fast fashion for this edition of her weekly column. Skiing hasn't turned to the wasteful strategy yet, but could it come in the near future?
Editor's Thoughts: Ella is really starting to find her stride in the latest edition of her weekly 'Fashion Mogul' column. Fast fashion isn't something that I participate in, but I never considered how it could creep its way into the sport we love. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Synopsis: The La Niña hype for Winter '24/'25 is real, but what does that mean for our favorite ski resorts? POWDER's Ian Greenwood discovers that while some patterns of La Niña produce predictable results, others muddy the water and prevent meteorologist from making accurate predictions.
Editor's Thoughts: I never thought I would care so much about the temperature of the Pacific Ocean, until I realized how much it affects our snowfall. Here's hoping this season's likely La Niña is as fruitful as the record-breaking season of Winter '22/'23.
Synopsis: Telluride native Grayson Zuluaf shares emotional stories surrounding his life growing up in the famous Colorado ski town.
Editor's Thoughts: Zuluaf's story is one of the best pieces of content I've ever been part of here at POWDER Magazine. In the interest of not ruining it, I'll keep my thoughts to myself and strongly encourage that you read it as soon as possible.
