Joseph Quinn is about to be everywhere. The “Stranger Things” breakout star already appeared in “A Quiet Place: Day One” and has been announced as part of Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” alongside fellow “Gladiator II” star Pedro Pascal. Now, he’ll be in theaters soon with the award-winning indie film “Hoard.”

Quinn stars as a mysterious stranger who crosses paths with a young woman (Saura Lightfoot-Leon) 10 years after she experienced a traumatic moment with her mother, whose obsessive hoarding threatened both of their lives.

The official synopsis reads: “‘Hoard’ film follows young girl Maria (Lily-Beau Leach) living in London in 1984 as she navigates her mother’s obsessive hoarding. One night, their world falls apart, and we join Maria a decade later, living with her foster mother. Flashing forward to the girl’s teenage years, she (Lightfoot-Leon) must confront the madness and trauma of her late mother when a stranger (Quinn) arrives on her doorstep.”

Deba Hekmat, Hayley Squires, and Samantha Spiro also star in the feature written and directed by Luna Carmoon. The film debuted at Venice in 2023, where it won three prizes. It went on to an extended festival run including at the BFI London Film Festival, Athens, Mumbai, and Goteborg.

“Hoard” is produced by Loran Dunn, Helen Simmons, and Andrew Starke. The feature is further produced by Delaval Film, Erebus Pictures, and Anti-Worlds with financing from the BFI. BBC Film developed and co-financed the film.

In addition to “Hoard,” Quinn will star in Bret Easton Ellis’ long-awaited directorial debut, “Relapse.” Ellis wrote the script about a man (Quinn) who witnesses a brutal death during a drug party and is thrust into an unsteady existential crisis upon entering rehab. Ellis’ novels have been adapted into films like “American Psycho” and “The Rules of Attraction.” His latest semi-autobiographical novel “The Shards,” set in 1981 Los Angeles against the backdrop of a serial killer’s reign, is set to be adapted into a limited series for HBO . Ellis has penned four films prior to “Relapse,” including Paul Schrader’s “The Canyons” and Tim Hunter’s “Smiley Face Killers.”

“Hoard” premieres September 6 in theaters from Sunrise Films. Check out the trailer below.
