Billy Ray Cyrus Speaks Out After Divorce From FIREROSE Is Finalized

Billy Ray Cyrus appears to have reached a settlement in his divorce from singer-songwriter FIREROSE less than one year into their marriage.

Cyrus, 62, posted a statement on Instagram shared by his attorneys, Rose Palermo and Jason Talley of Nashville, Tennessee-based Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett on Instagram on Monday afternoon (August 5). The country star's attorneys confirmed that the estranged couple reached a settlement to dissolve their marriage after only seven months together. Cyrus added a statement of his own, referring to the short marriage as “the most crazy insane scam,” and said he’s “very relieved” to part ways:

“This past Friday the parties reached a settlement agreement at mediation to dissolve their 7-month marriage, and the Court declared the parties divorced this morning. Mr. Cyrus is relieved to put this nightmare behind him. Further, a couple of weeks ago, prior to mediation, Ms. Hodges legally changed her name from ‘Hodges’ to ‘Cyrus.’ Mr. Cyrus feels that this validates his assertion that his ex-wife’s sole impetus for marrying him was to obtain his last name. Our client would also like to state: ‘I’m just very relieved… and giving thanks today to breathe a sigh of relief. This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme. It’s unfortunate… it played out this way… not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger… It was a matter of the heart. Love is blind … that’s for sure. B.R.C.”

FIREROSE, also known as Johanna Rose Hodges , has not shared a statement about the divorce as of publication time.

Cyrus and FIREROSE, who is in her mid 30s, got married on October 10, 2023 . They described their wedding day at the time as one that “will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.” Cyrus confirmed in November 2022 that he and FIREROSE were engaged , following speculation over a ring she was spotted wearing in photos on Instagram ( she later shared more details about the 18k white gold ring and other engagement details ). The pair met more than a decade ago while Cyrus was working with daughter Miley Cyrus on the set of Hannah Montana . He previously said the two became “friends,” and in recent years, reconnected. Cyrus previously called FIREROSE “ the beautiful love of my life ,” and his “soulmate.”

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer filed for divorce from FIREROSE in May, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct.” Since filing for divorce, the estranged husband and wife have since made accusations against one another , including abuse and allegations that FIREROSE attempted to “isolate” Cyrus from his family . Last month, a judge granted an emergency motion to block FIREROSE from using Cyrus’ credit cards . Cyrus alleged in the emergency motion that his former wife spent nearly $97,000 in unauthorized charges. He spoke out in a statement after an audio recording reportedly surfaced capturing an argument between the couple. In part, Cyrus said he “started realizing something was wrong,” and said “ see you in court .” She'll reportedly get $0 in the divorce.

Cyrus finalized his divorce from ex-wife Tish Cyrus in 2022, after nearly three decades of marriage. They share five children together: Brandi Cyrus , Trace Cyrus , Braison Cyrus , Noah Cyrus and Miley. Cyrus is also father to son Christopher Cody from a previous relationship.
