A headline said : “2m could lose winter fuel allowance” (30 July, p5). The 2 million referred to older people who were struggling financially; more than 10 million people could be affected by changes to the allowance. This error was in print only.

    • We said “787,000 pupils” were suspended in 2022-23 ( Disruptive behaviour blamed for sharp rise in school exclusions , 19 July, page 8). The figure was for suspensions, not pupils; a pupil may receive more than one suspension.
