Sunday night’s finale drew 8.9M viewers across HBO and digital platforms, the network announced Monday. That marks a season-high audience, with 14% growth over the Season 2 premiere’s 7.8M .
However, it is still down versus the Season 1 premiere, which drew more than 9M viewers . At the time, that was HBO ‘s biggest finale night for one of its series since the conclusion of Game of Thrones in May 2019. That is seemingly still the case, even two years later.
Season 2 has lost a bit of its audience overall compared to Season 1, since the premiere saw an audience decline of about 22%. However, the series has managed to build back some of its audience over the course of the season, as is evident by the premiere-to-finale growth.

In the week leading up to the Season 2 premiere, the first season managed about 1M viewers, which is the largest engagement the title has seen in more than a year and a half. That aligns fairly well with the eventual viewership growth for the rest of the season.
Season 2 is averaging nearly 25M cross platform viewers per episode to-date, HBO said. Again, this is down compared to the same metric for Season 1 when, by the finale, episodes were averaging around 29M viewers.
