Bregman surely woke up with an extra pep in his step when he was the matchup on deck for Monday night. In 41 career at-bats against Texas Rangers starter Andrew Heaney, Bregman is batting .342 and slugging .561 with a double, a triple and two home runs. The Houston Astros third baseman also leads the team in homers over the last 30 days (four).
This line won't get the juices flowing, but we love Witt in this matchup. The Kansas City Royals star is batting .429 and slugging .643 against left-handed pitching since the All-Star break, and he's 2-4 with a double and a home run in his career against James Paxton. Paxton throws a high percentage of 4-seam fastballs (57.0 percent), and Witt has a .316 xBA, a .695 xSLG and a 58.9 percent hard-hit rate against 4-seamers this year.
Like Paxton, Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow trusts his fastball over any other pitch. The right-hander throws his 4-seam fastball 45.9 percent of the time, which is great news for Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber has a .673 xSLG and a whopping 61.9 percent hard-hit rate against 4-seam fastballs this season. He's also seeing the ball well lately with a .302 batting average, a .651 slugging percentage and four homers in his last 12 games.
