Four New Members Join Visit Arvada Board of Directors
2024-08-05
Visit Arvada, the City’s nonprofit tourism organization, announced today that four residents of Arvada have been added to its Board of Directors, bringing the total serving to 13.
“Arvada is a community worth promoting and celebrating and our new Board members made it clear in their applications that they view the opportunity to grow tourism thoughtfully and carefully for the benefit of residents and businesses is important,” Jean Gordon, Director of Visit Arvada said. “This aligns perfectly with our current mission and vision.”
Visit Arvada announced the opportunity to apply for its two Board vacancies earlier this summer. Applicants were asked to share their passion for the community and share why it was important to see tourism increase in Arvada. When the application deadline closed, the response received was impressive and the current Board voted unanimously to increase its members from 11 to 13 to accommodate four new members versus just two.
The new Board members are all residents of Arvada and began serving a three-year term beginning in July 2024: Ian Harwick, Transportation Representative Jenny Kramer, At-Large Representative Chad Short, At-Large Representative Chris Hill, At-Large Business Representative
Bob Dyer, President of the Visit Arvada Board of Directors added, “As residents and long-time supporters of all things Arvada, we know how special this community is. With offerings such as the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities and Olde Town Arvada, plus two full-service hotels in the Residence Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn, we have an immense opportunity to showcase our community to a wider audience.”
“Tourism is an amazing mechanism to increase a city’s sales tax and lodging tax bases. We want to contribute to the City’s revenue base for the benefit of residents and assist in keeping all of our amazing businesses thriving year-round by showcasing Arvada through advertising campaigns, public relations efforts and social media promotion,” Dyer said.
The new members will join the current Board consisting of: Bob Dyer, President, Arts and Culture Representative Kami Welch, Treasurer, Arvada Chamber Representative Katie Groke, Secretary, Apex Representative Mike Huggins, Olde Town Representative Rachael Kuroiwa, City of Arvada Representative Joshua Langley, Hospitality Representative Lauren Simpson, Mayor of Arvada, City Council Liaison Jeff Smith, West Arvada Representative Jen Zeitlow, At-Large, Business Representative
Visit Arvada is also proud to welcome all residents and guests to Arvada at the Arvada Visitors Center, 7305 Grandview Avenue. The Visitors Center can assist with resources that help to inform and enhance a visit or relocation to Arvada. Learn more HERE.
