It’s been a messy split between the country singer and the Australian singer. After only seven months of marriage, Cyrus officially filed to be separated, and he asked the court for an annulment on a claim that the marriage was “obtained by fraud.”
The couple’s official date of separation was listed as May 22, 2024, and Cyrus gave his now-ex-wife a deadline of May 24th to leave their home while giving her a $500-a-night stipend over ten days for temporary housing.
And now, after only three months of battling back and forth, the divorce is now finalized. Lawyers from both sides were able to confirm to TMZ that the case is officially settled in the Tennessee court system.
As far as terms of the divorce go, it’s reported that Firerose will exit the marriage with $0, though Cyrus apparently did concede any credits and royalties to songs that he and Firerose had wrote, performed and released together.
The Australian singer also apparently changed her last name to Cyrus rather recently, and Billy Ray believes that obtaining his last name was his now ex-wife’s intention all along.
A statement from Billy Ray Cyrus through his lawyers that was obtained by TMZ read:
“This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme.
It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.”
That’s a fiery statement directed at Firerose.
On the flip side, a source that’s close to the now ex-wife of Billy Ray Cyrus claimed that the divorce case wrapped up quickly thanks to Firerose herself. The close friend stated that plenty of evidence could have been presented against Billy Ray Cyrus, but that the Australian singer simply wanted to put all of this behind her:
“If this went to trial, Firerose and her team would have provided a significant amount of evidence to prove he fabricated a narrative that would benefit his public image.
There is no doubt she would have been awarded the divorce, but it was much more important to her that this continuous smear campaign end, and the emotional turmoil stop so she can close the door on this chapter.”
Throughout the contentious divorce, Firerose made serious allegations that Billy Ray was verbally and emotionally abusive, and leaked audio apparently showed the singer berating and cursing at his wife, calling her a “selfish f**king b*tch” and a “dumbass.”
Seems like it’s a good thing that everybody’s getting away from this one.
