Laura Glenn-Skirvin said she feared for her life as she tried to cope with her automobile falling apart right after getting maintenance done.

“Let me tell you about my crazy day yesterday. I had a tire put on and tires rotated and balanced and on the highway, my wheel fell off flew across the highway,” her post stated .

“I Almost got ran over. It was scary. Had the car towed and it’s messed up got a rental.”

She explained that a United States Senator was in the area so it made her experience even more dangerous.

“Top it all off there was about 100 cops going past me because JD Vance was coming through and the highway was shut down,” Glenn-Skirvin said.

“Cops had to mark my car so I wouldn’t get shot. They put the K9 dog round my car to make sure I didn’t have a bomb it was the crazziest day ever,

“Southgate cop stopped put my tire, (me and my daughter on crutches found ), in the trunk. It was insane. Thank you to him he was so polite I wish I remembered his name. Thanks officer. By the grace of God I’m alive.”

The car owner’s post was flooded with reactions and comments from other Facebookers.

A number of people offered suggestions about what the auto technician who changed her tires could’ve done wrong to cause the awful incident that put her and her daughter in danger.

“So whoever rotated your tires clearly didn’t do their jobs tightening your lug nuts properly,” a commenter stated.

“Or that would have never happened…make sure to get your other 3 tires checked to ensure the lug nuts are tight like they should be.”

Others could barely believe the information shared in the post they found it so shocking, saying: “When I was reading this, I almost thought it was gonna be a joke at the end that is for sure one unbelievable day!”

“When I started reading this, I thought it was a story,” another person chimed in.

“Then I realized it really happened. OMG, glad your safe. Let us know the epilogue.”

    Examining the condition of tires

As a driver, it's important to be able to identify potentially dangerous problems with tires and how to spot precursors. Here's what to look for:

    1. Regularly examine the tread depth of the tire. It is a great way to understand how much life there is in a tire before it needs to be replaced. You can use a quarter or a penny to check the depth. If the president’s head can be fully seen, start saving for new tires.
    2. Examine the sidewall for cracks or bubbles, especially after colliding with a curb or median. A bubble may not show up immediately, so it’s important to keep an eye on it for a while before dismissing it.
    3. When inflating a tire with a digital pressure reader, always zero it out before plugging it into the valve to ensure previous data is erased.
    4. Have your tires regularly balanced and rotated at the proper intervals, as tire inspections are a part of the service.
    5. Understand the warranty (if any) that came with the tires. Many times new tires will have a warranty for certain types of damage, and that can help get a damaged tire replaced for free or at a discount.
    6. Learn to read the sidewall of a tire. Even if the tread is within spec, a tire can still be dangerous if it’s too old.

One driver even shared details about a similarly terrifying experience they’ve had with their own vehicle.

“I had a Hyundai dealership one time that rotated my tires and didn’t put the lug nuts on right,” the user explained.

“I was a lot more fortunate than you I felt the wobble in their parking lot and went back in. They offered me car wash coupons and apologized profusely,

“There is no way in hell that I would return there to have anything done on my car. Ever.”

The commenter went on to make a joke to lighten the nature of the conversation but, given the evidence, could also be true.

“So evidently that mechanic got a new job at your place,” they added.

“I’m so glad that you’re okay, it [sic] could have been deadly.”

One individual simply advised Glenn-Skirvin to “send all bills to the company that did the work.”

Glenn-Skirvin did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
