Many people join Costco for the savings involved. But sometimes, Costco manages to outdo itself by discounting its already low prices even further.

Such is the case this August. Some of the following Costco deals may not seem groundbreaking, but they're a great opportunity to save on essential purchases you're probably going to buy anyway.

Plus, there are a couple of gadgets you may want to pick up at a discount if they happen to be on your wishlist. Let's dive in and see what's on sale.

    1. $6.50 off Charmin Ultra Soft Bath Tissue, 2-Ply, 213 Sheets, 30 Rolls

Toilet paper is one of those unavoidable expenses we all face. So it's nice to get the chance to pay less when we can.

Right now, Costco has Charmin Ultra Soft Bath Tissue available for $6.50 off the usual price. And if you usually buy the cheapest toilet paper in the store to save money , let me tell you that Charmin is a real game-changer. It's pillowy and far more gentle than many of the other bathroom products you'll find.

    2. $6 off Kirkland Signature Dental Chews, 72-count

Having a dog's teeth professionally cleaned can be traumatic -- for pups and their owners. These cleanings often require sedation and can be quite costly. It's best to clean your pup's teeth as best as you can at home.

Some dogs, though, won't sit still for a thorough brushing. The next best thing is to give them dental chews. And now, you can save $6 on a 72-count of Kirkland's version. You may want to stock up if you have multiple dogs and go through these quickly.

    3. $50 off the Krups Divine Pump Espresso Maker

There's nothing like a fresh espresso to start off your morning or give you an afternoon pick-me-up. But buying espresso outside the home can get expensive quickly. You may want to invest in your own espresso maker instead.

Costco is offering $50 off the Krups Divine Pump Espresso Maker in August. It features a 15-bar pump pressure system and dual mode steam nozzle, plus a host of barista accessories that'll help you up your coffee game. Its compact design also makes it easier to fit into tight places.

    4. $30 off the SodaStream Art Sparkling Water Maker Bundle

You could buy sparkling water at the supermarket like a lot of people. Or, you could go the do-it-yourself route and experiment with different flavors -- not to mention have a little fun in the process.

Costco is now selling a SodaStream Art Sparkling Water Maker Bundle for $30 off the usual price. It includes a one-liter dishwasher-safe bottle, two CO2 cylinders, and four drink mixes to start you off.

You may find that you're able to not only save money over time by making your own sparkling water, but conserve resources by not bringing home all of those plastic bottles.

    5. $3.50 off the Chapstick Variety Pack, 12 Sticks

Chapstick may not be the most exciting purchase you'll make this month. But soon enough, the cold weather will be upon us, which means your lips will need protection. And let's face it -- Chapstick has a pesky way of getting lost, whether in the depths of your purse or the abyss behind your nightstand. It pays to load up on it while it's cheap.

Right now, Costco is selling a 12-pack of Chapstick tubes for $3.50 off the usual price. That means you'll be able to stick a tube on your desk, kitchen counter, bathroom sink, and just about anywhere you might need one. And you'll be less likely to get aggravated if your most recently used stick goes missing.

These are only some of the great deals you'll find in stores or on Costco.com this month. It pays to browse the site and see what your local warehouse club has on its shelves for even more savings.
