The United States and Germany are both 90 minutes away from the gold medal match as the two women's soccer giants clash for a second time this summer in the semifinals of the 2024 Olympics in France.

A dominant 4-1 victory went the way of the USWNT when these two teams met in the group stage, but Germany advanced as a second-place finisher and got past Canada via a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals after a scoreless draw.

The U.S. were also strongly challenged in the previous outing, needing an extra-time winner from Trinity Rodman to get past Japan in a gutsy performance against a defensively bunkered opponent. It was nervy for much of the game, as the United States struggled to create the similar attacking output as they did in the group stage, but ultimately managed to survive and advance in the end.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

USWNT vs. Germany lineups, team news

Head coach Emma Hayes said everyone in the squad trained in full on Monday, appearing to suggest that everyone will be available for this match.

That includes Emily Fox , who was withdrawn late in the quarterfinal with what appeared a painful ankle injury, and Tierna Davidson who was injured in the second group game and was unavailable for both the group finale and the quarterfinal. Sam Coffey returns to midfield from her yellow card suspension while all other booked players see their accumulation wiped clean.

USA predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Naeher (GK) — Fox, Girma, Davidson, Dunn — Horan, Coffey, Lavelle — Rodman, S. Smith, Swanson.

Kathrin-Julia Hendrich was withdrawn early in the final group match against Zambia, but started the quarterfinal and went the full 120 minutes. No German players have picked up a yellow card suspension either, and all cards are wiped from this point forward.

They are, however, without young midfield star Lena Oberdorf who suffered a torn ACL just weeks before the Olympics began.

Germany predicted XI (4-4-2 right to left): Berger (GK) — Gwinn, Hendrich, Hegering, Rauch — Brand, Minge, Nusken, Buhl — Popp, Schuller.

    USWNT vs. Germany prediction

The United States has generally struggled against a defensive opponent which deploys a low block, but that's not Germany's style. They gave up a whopping 22 shots to Canada in the quarterfinal scoreless draw, with the North Americans failing to score with three big chances.

Despite the grind against Japan in the quarterfinals, the U.S. is far better suited to play against an opponent such as Germany, and even if they should concede they will be expected to generate enough scoring chances to reach the final in a similar manner to their group victory.

    Prediction: USA 3-1 Germany
