The Last of Us Season 2 is almost here and fans are seething with excitement.

HBO shared a teaser of the new season which centered Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. Last of Us is based on a zombie apocalypse video game , meaning the adaptation was under the watchful eye of mega fans upon its release. However, it quickly won over the masses, leaving them wanting more.

The dramatic 20-second video sent fans in to a tizzy as Catherine O'Hara made her debut in the franchise. Playing an unknown character, she asked Joel: “Did you hurt her? ... Then what? What did you do?"

Kathryn Dever revived her role as Abby as did Isabela Merced as Dina and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Jeffrey is a staple for the universe as his voice was also used in the video game itself. The video goes on to be teeming with action as glimpses of fire, fighting, and brawls ensue.

HBO captioned the quick clip with Joel's response: "I saved her," vowing to bring the show back soon. "A sneak peek of Season 2 of the @HBO Original Series #TheLastOfUs , coming in 2025 to Max," they wrote.

Video game fans were thoroughly pleased with the latest taste at the show. "Abby spotted in the new The Last of Us season 2 teaser. Looks straight out of the game!" wrote one fan. Another said: "Other video game adaptations can really learn a lesson from The Last Of Us."

"Love this game! One of my most favorite games ever. Can't wait for the new season," wrote a third.

Fans also praised Pedro's acting with one saying: "Pedro Pascal giving me so many feelings just with this one clip. Joel Miller is my favorite character and I can feel my heart breaking already."

However, many were confused by Bella's appearance on the show, hoping for a recast. Previously, fans speculated if that might be the case, though, HBO never hinted that could be occurring. The fans were concerned about her young appearance and how it might not translate well as the story continues to unfold. One said: "The Seraphites looks cool. But honestly, I still don't think Bella was a good choice for season 2/Prt2 adaptation. She has zero resemblance of The Grown-up Ellie."

It was previously confirmed to The Wrap that they'd be keeping Bella. Neil Druckmann, one of the series co-creators, said: "We are extremely lucky to have Bella… and the only way we would ever consider recasting Bella is if she said, 'I don't want to work with you guys anymore' and even then, we're not sure we would grant her that. We might force her to come back this season."
