Simone Biles Blatantly Calls Out Fans After Brutal Gaffe in Balance Beam Final

Simone Biles' Paris Olympics finale did not deliver the expected result.
The most decorated U.S. gymnast in Summer Games history still took home a medal after finishing second in the floor final. Biles, however, failed to reach the podium earlier in the day in the balance beam final, an event she won the bronze medal in at both the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the Tokyo Games in 2021.
Biles' downfall on Monday all boiled down to the 27-year-old uncharacteristically falling off the beam during her routine. There was just no coming back from that.
In her post-competition press conference, Biles admitted that the crowd had affected her performance. In fact, she did not hesitate to call out the fans in attendance at Bercy Arena.
"You're trying to stay in your zone, and then people start cheering and then the shushing gets louder, so really, they should be shushed because they're louder," Biles said after the beam and floor finals, via Tom Schad of USA TODAY.
"It was really weird and awkward. And we've asked several times if we can have some music, or some background noise, so I'm not really sure what happened there. But, yeah, not our favorite. None of us liked it."

This was obviously not the first time Biles has performed in front of a capacity crowd, and it's not common for her to snap at the fans like this.
It speaks volumes to the magnitude of Monday's finals as well as the disappointment in what turned out to be a lackluster final day for Biles -- at least by her extremely high standards.
