Simone Biles , the most decorated American gymnast in history, won her 11th career Olympic medal during Day 10 of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday (August 5).

Biles, 27, took silver in the women's floor exercise final with a score of 14.133, her final event of the Paris Games. Brazil's Rebeca Andrade won gold with a score of 14.166 while USA teammate Jordan Chiles took bronze with a score of 13.766 after a score change.

Biles fell short of medaling in the women's balance beam final earlier in the day after falling off the apparatus at the end of her routine, resulting in a score of 13.100, which tied teammate Suni Lee as the United States was left off the podium in the event for the first time since the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The 27-year-old won gold in all three of her previous events, the women's team final, the women's individual vault final and the women's individual all-around final, becoming first American to ever the event win twice, having previously won the all-around during her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

American track and field athlete Valarie Allman won back-to-back gold medals in the women's discus throw, having previously won at the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. Allman is the fourth woman to have ever won gold twice in discus.

Noah Lyles , who won in the men's 100-meter dash final Sunday (August 4) night in a photo finish, dominated his first-round heat in the 200-meter, the event many consider his strongest of the two. Lyles is vying to become the first man to win both the 100-meter and 200-meter events in the Olympics since Usain Bolt (Jamaica) -- who achieved the feat three times -- at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the first American to do so since Carl Lewis at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

Team USA also medaled in triathlon, shooting, pole vault and 3x3 basketball on Monday, leading all countries with 78 total medals, including 20 gold, which trails only China by one.
