    I Asked AI To Make 20 Wedding Cakes Based On Disney Movies, And Let's Just Say That Some Are Better Than Others

    1. Cinderella

    I actually am not a huge fan of the classic Cinderella movie (as a kid, the glass slippers definitely would have broken under my cartwheels), but what I liked about this cake was its simplicity. Crisp white, a little sparkle, some extra magic from Fairy Godmother, and bam! You've got a clean and elegant dessert that you 100% don't have to share with the ugly step sisters. Oops, they weren't on the guest list? Weird.

    2. Sleeping Beauty

    Surprise, another princess-based cake. Sleeping Beauty is, again, not one of my favorite movies. Aurora has very little personality, and I don't consider any of the songs in this movie "bangers." The cake is pretty, and I do love a good flower, but couldn't AI have done something a little more blue? Or pink? No blue! NO pink! Moving on.

    3. Aladdin

    Aladdin is one of my top five favorite Disney movies , so I had high hopes for what AI could do with this cake. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed as much as I am underwhelmed. If only we had Genie to add some gorgeous jewels or maybe the pattern from the carpet. Maybe then the cake would be a bit more reminiscent of Aladdin.

    4. The Lion King

    Can you feel the love tonight? Not quite? Me neither, although we are getting closer to a cake that could stand in the spotlight. I do like the added plant details and the waterfall on this cake. Even the subtle orange hues at the bottom work to help bring in the savanna vibe. The characters are just a bit much on this cake. Maybe AI just doesn't know how to do chocolate molds?

    5. Pocahontas

    If you were hoping to paint with all the colors of the wind, this cake chose to go just around the riverbend instead. The waterfall is doing everything for me, and the color choice, movement, and simplicity are truly beautiful. It almost makes me ok with the birds because of how ethereal the falls are. However, I am going to have to deduct points for the branches around the cake. I think if they were a little more delicate, it would resonate as a wedding cake.

    6. 101 Dalmatians

    Animal print has never been my thing, but these spots are so cute. As a dog lover, I also dig the little chocolate dogs . The brown bands break up the pattern, so it's not overwhelming, and they could be changed to any color you desire without messing up the cake. Simple and elegant, it just needs to come with its own puppy!

    7. A Goofy Movie

    A Goofy Movie is also one of my top five Disney movies. However, I knew it wouldn't make a good wedding cake. The movie is part of the quintessential '90s era of bright colors, fun patterns, and exploding with vibrancy. I have to give AI credit for trying to elevate the cake with some flowers. This cake absolutely feels the vibe of the movie, but it is not what I would go for when seeking a sophisticated look.

    8. Mary Poppins

    Trying to depict a live movie was a risk, but I do think AI did a decent job with Mary Poppins . I believe there's an attempt at maybe some kite imagery, but the main concept is definitely wrapped around the part of the movie that transitions chalk drawings into life. The carousel at the top of the cake is extremely charming and brings just enough whimsy to an elegance that perfectly captures Mary Poppins . After all, she's practically perfect in every way.

    9. Treasure Planet

    Now for a lesser-known Disney movie that should absolutely get more love: Treasure Planet . If you know this movie, then I think you would have to agree that the cake embodies the theme very well. Adventure, exploration, a bit of steampunk, and a journey through space. This movie helped us feel like we belonged somewhere, even when the "where" wasn't any place in particular. Without knowing the movie, it's hard to find the beauty in this cake, but it does tell a story. With my completely biased opinion, love for the movie, and how the cake embodies the feeling of adventure, I'd have to give it a high rating!

    10. Mulan

    If you don't like Mulan, then I'm just going to say it — dishonor. Dishonor on you and dishonor on your cow. This cake may not make a man out of you, but it is the cake of a decorated warrior. The color palette and the paintings are hitting their marks. My only deduction would be that I think this cake would do better in a hexagonal shape or a square shape to nod towards the traditional Chinese architecture featured in the film.

    11. Wall-E

    I tested the creative limits of AI on this one. Asking it to create a wedding cake inspired by a robot? I didn't have much hope, but boy, was I wrong. This cake is IMPRESSIVE. The remnants of machines, greenery, and life starting to find a way back are everything. Even the waterfall looks like it has Wall-E's arms and core as its backdrop! Sophistication can step aside because I'm speechless over this creation. Imagine actually seeing something like this at someone's wedding?

    Overall cake score: 9.5/10

    12. Beauty and the Beast

    Back to something a little more traditional for this cake, and a more classic Disney movie to most: Beauty and the Beast . It is very elegant and glamorous, and exactly what I would expect given this movie. I love the addition of the gilded tea pot on top and the deep red roses. Belle would be beside herself over this cake. My only question is the filling. Is it the grey stuff?

    13. Atlantis: The Lost Empire

    Truly, I love this movie. I always thought Princess Kida deserved to be made into more of an icon. I don't think AI fully understood the "Disney's" Atlantis part of this request, though. Don't get me wrong, the cake is stunning. It's an entire underwater world and probably a very good depiction of what history would deem as the lost city. The intricate corals and whales are a bit more reminiscent of The Little Mermaid than Atlantis: The Lost Empire . Swap out some of the sea creatures for ancient machines and a dash of steampunk, and you've got what we're looking for. This cake as a standalone is an easy 10/10, but as a Disney representation of Atlantis , it's gonna get a lower score.

    14. The Little Mermaid

    After my failed attempt at Atlantis: The Lost Empire , I did have to see how AI would interpret a wedding cake for The Little Mermaid . The cake is understated and could be used for any coastal or beach theme wedding. The touches of seaweed and shells add much more elegance than I anticipated, though I would have liked to see some more of the "mermaid" theme incorporated — maybe through some iridescent scales or pearls. I could even go for an itty bitty trident, just to tie in the movie to the cake. Overall, it is beautiful, and I would absolutely love to have a cake like this one day, but a small Disney callback would have made this a full 10.

    15. Alice in Wonderland

    Alice deserved better. Every image AI generated for poor Alice was loaded with cards and suits. I get it; the Queen of Hearts was a big component of the movie, and the way the cards are done on this cake is very tasteful. Alice also had a mad tea party and a singing garden, which I would have loved to have seen more heavily influenced in the image. The cake is pretty, but it could easily be swapped for something coming out of Vegas.

    16. The Emperor's New Groove

    Another of my absolute favorite Disney movies, but it's hard to capture the theme of The Emperor's New Groove through AI. I can appreciate the layers with the "old world" feel that was depicted in the movie and the color palette used. The cake itself came across as sophisticated and still managed the subtle call back to the movie. Could it have used a llama or little purple vial? Sure. Does it need it for a wedding cake? No.

    Overall cake score: 8.5/10.

    17. The Princess and the Frog

    Well done, AI, well done. The greenery, vines, simple art, and color palette are all excellent choices. I can even get on board with the tiny frog. My only note on this cake is that I think the flower on top would be best as a water lily! Water lilies are gorgeous and resonate with the leaves a bit more than the standard flower.

    18. Moana

    What can I say except you're welcome? I love the simplicity of this cake. The Polynesian design elements, the vibrant pops of color from the tropical flowers, and how clean it all comes together. Granted, this cake has the same issue as the Little Mermaid cake, where it could be generic for any tropical-themed wedding with very little callback to the actual Disney movie it's meant to represent. I would have loved to see subtle imagery of a stingray in the Polynesian design, or maybe as a cake topper there could be a miniature of Moana's boat.

    Overall cake score: 9.5/10

    19. Winnie the Pooh

    The whole cake isn't shown in this image, but from what is visible, it is absolutely adorable. I want to live on this cake with the tiny Winnie the Pooh, the little jar of "hunny," and the baby-sized bees. The details on this cake are perfect. I can't find a single thing I'm not in love with.

    20. Peter Pan

    Last but certainly not least, Peter Pan . Another of my top five movies, this cake really does tell the tale of Peter Pan very well. You have the ship that sails through the clouds to Neverland, the actual depiction of Neverland, and Peter's shadow, all working together to guide us through his journey. I had higher hopes for this cake as some of the imagery in the movie is very iconic: the children in front of the clock tower in London, the mermaid lagoon, Tinkerbell, the antagonizing crocodile who is always after the infamous Captain Hook. Not all of this could go on a cake and still be viewed as elegant and sophisticated, but it certainly could have used at least a little bit more. As much as it pains me, I can't give this one a great rating.
