He revealed that he was in a relationship with someone who he fell hard for really fast. They lived together for two years, talked about a future with kids and a possible engagement, then it turned south. Jonathan said that she was going through a hard time and self medicated and relied on alcohol to cover up the pain she was going through.

After months, one day things got out of hand she started to question Jonathan's character and would tell him he was abusive and manipulative for questioning what she was doing, words that "haunt him to this day." It got to a point where she snapped and told him to "get the f--k out" and she didn't want to see him again. He admitted that he grew up being a hopeless romantic but what he went through "destroyed him to his core."

Jenn was upset for what he had to go through but did not hold back and revealed that she also dated someone who "gaslit and manipulated her" as well. She was completely understanding and told him that "when you're in an emotional abuse relationship, it really takes a toll on you." Jenn ended up giving him the date rose, saving him from getting eliminated at the next rose ceremony.

Some viewers at home were proud of Jonathan to open up about his past, while others felt like it was a red flag. One person wrote: "That talk between Jenn and Jonathan is one you can actually picture happening in real life. The depth and detail they went into was remarkable." Another person wrote: "Jonathan feels genuine, but like what do you mean your ex called you abusive?? what would make her say that??" A third person wrote: "This story is soooo sketchy to me wtf is Jonathan even saying." A fourth wrote: "I love that their is a deep and more mature level to Jonathan especially when it comes to dating. Rare to find in us guys."
