Charles Barkley Throws Shade At USA Basketball Star For Embarrassing Olympic Performance

NBA legend Charles Barkley recently joined Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George on the latter's show, "Podcast P with Paul George," sharing his thoughts on the USA men's basketball team at the Paris Olympics.
George and Barkley discussed Team USA's stacked roster. Barkley explained that given their talent, no one should even be competing with the United States, but he believes one player has negatively affected the U.S.
Barkley was referring to Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, mentioning his poor preparation for international play.
The former NBA star and member of the 1992 Team USA men's basketball "Dream Team" thinks Embiid should feel embarrassed since he entered the Olympics out of shape.
“I think that's one of the reasons he's always injured," Barkley said. "I don't think he's in good enough shape…You got to be a little bit embarrassed by the way you played.”

Embiid started the team's first matchup against Serbia, logging in just 11 minutes in the showcase. He recorded four points and two rebounds in their 110-84 victory.
Following that matchup, Team USA went head-to-head against South Sudan, and Embiid didn't play a single minute. Head coach Steve Kerr later explained that he wanted to match South Sudan's speed, leading to his decision to sideline Embiid.
The 76ers star then entered the starting lineup again when Team USA notched a 104-83 victory against Puerto Rico. Embiid finished that match with 15 points and three rebounds, shooting 6-14 from the field.
Barkley believes his limited play and lack of contribution thrive from his efforts off the floor since he's not in good enough shape.
