United States sprinter Noah Lyles has been at the top of news headlines throughout the past 24 hours following his gold medal performance in the men's 100-meter final at the Paris Olympics.
As fans began to review Lyles' history, both on and off the track, details of his relationship with Jamaican sprinter Junelle Bromfield surfaced.
Lyles mentioned that his two-year anniversary with Bromfield was on Monday. The gold medalist was a hero in the eyes of Bromfield after he said that he had to fetch her spikes at 2 a.m., hours after he won the 100-meter final.
Bromfield was recently seen embracing Lyles following his gold medal performance for America in the 100-meter final.
The Jamaican star competed in the mixed 400-meter relay, where her team placed at No. 5 with a final time of 3:11.67.
While she prepares for the next round of the 400-meter event, Lyles is gearing up for the 200-meter men's semifinals on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 2:02 p.m. ET.
Noah Lyles of Team USA celebrates after winning the men’s 100 meters final at the Paris Olympics on Aug. 4, 2024.
The Olympic couple went on their first date in 2018 and decided they would just be friends since they didn't feel an emotional connection.
Following their first encounter, Lyles and Bromfield would eventually reconnect in Jamaica, where the two "danced the whole night."
Their second meeting made them realize that there may be some emotional feelings between the two, according to Lyles.
After a couple of scheduling conflicts with their competitive meets, Lyles and Bromfield would eventually agree on a unique relationship years after their first link-up.
Lyles explained that he and Bromfield didn't want to ruin their friendship, so they checked in on each other from month to month, where both of them could agree or disagree if they were compatible with one another since it's a long-distance relationship.
They became an established couple in 2022 and have since worked through their Olympic and world schedules.
