Olympics LIVE: Imane Khelif wins boxing semi-final fight after Josh Kerr misses gold in 1500m shock

American Cole Hocker stunned world champion Josh Kerr and reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen to win a sensational 1500m gold at Paris 2024 .

Kerr’s rivalry with Ingebrigtsen had been one of the storylines of the Olympics but while the Scot beat the Norwegian to claim silver, both were shocked by Hocker racing up the inside to win an astonishing race.

Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita missed out on a medal in the women’s 200m final by the barest of margins as the USA’s Gabby Thomas stormed to gold to deny St Lucia’s Julien Alfred a sprint double.

Brittany Brown claimed bronze by a photo finish, finishing 0.02 seconds ahead of Asher-Smith in fourth with Neita a further 0.01 second behind in fifth.

Team GB settled for silver in the men’s sprint as the Netherlands smashed the world record in the gold medal final. The Great Britian trio of Ed Lowe, Hamish Turnbull and Jack Carlin were looking to match the women’s excellent gold yesterday.

Earlier, Sky Brown featured in the skateboarding and managed to push through a shoulder injury to medal yet again - landing her second successive Olympic bronze after doing so in Tokyo three years ago.
