    The 2024 anime superhero film My Hero Academia: You’re Next is the franchise ‘s fourth film. It was announced in August 2023 and premiered in Japanese theaters on Friday, August 2, 2024. Within the first three days of its release, the film broke the Japanese box office, ranking first.

    My Hero Academia: You’re Next was screened in 488 Japanese theaters and simultaneously in IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema. By Monday, August 5, 2024, the film sold 608,500 tickets and earned about 895 million yen, which is equivalent to $6.28 million USD.

    TOHO International will distribute the film to theaters across the United States on October 11, 2024. Both English-subtitled and dubbed versions will be released in the theaters to cater to the audience’s preferences.

    According to the My Hero Academia: You’re Next’s official website , the story features a retiring All Might passing his will to Izuku Midoriya and the U.A. High School students. When he is in his second year, a war between heroes and villains leads to chaos. As such, Izuku, also known as Deku, is compelled to encounter the formidable foe, Tomura Shigaraki.

    Fortunately, the war ends with Shigaraki retreating. However, a new enemy, Dark Might, emerges immediately after, announcing his wish to replace All Might. Despite claiming to take the place of the retired hero, Dark Might announces contrasting ambitions and runs an organization called the “Gorrini Family.” Deku and his friends confront the enemy in an attempt to restore peace by defeating him.

    Tensai Okamura directed the film at Studio Bones while Yōsuke Kuroda composed the script. Additionally, Yoshihiko Umakoshi handled character design, and Yuki Hayashi composed the music. The film stars Daiki Yamashita as Deku, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Bakugo, and Yuki Kaji as Shōto Todoroki. Furthermore, Kenta Miyake plays the role of the primary antagonist, Dark Might.

    Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga series officially ended on Monday, August 5, 2024, with 430 chapters. The manga inspired a long-running anime, four anime films, three manga spin-offs, and four video games, all of which became part of My Hero Academia’s legacy.
