Peace lilies, known for their stunning blooms, are a favorite among houseplant lovers , yet they can be quite the divas, throwing tantrums even with perfect care.

They're generally easy to maintain if you've got their water and sunlight needs down, but it's a real head-scratcher when they start wilting or drooping out of the blue.

A concerned gardener recently sought advice on the Help with Houseplants Facebook group, sharing a photo of her peace lily's leaves turning yellow, pleading: "Help! I can't understand why my peace lily's leaves are turning yellow."

Seeing a peace lily with discolored leaves might set off alarm bells, but fear not, it's often just a soil issue, and they can bounce back to health with ease.

In the comments, plant aficionados chimed in, suggesting that the yellowing leaves were due to nutrient deficiency, advising either repotting or feeding the plant, reports the Express .

One helpful user advised: "Yellowing bottom leaves can indicate a nitrogen deficiency. Fertilizers are described with Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potash content. You want something with a significant first number."

Another added: "I couldn't help but notice that you've planted that peace lily in a small pot. They typically need to be repotted every year as they can outgrow their pot."

However, one green-thumbed woman named Dawn said: "I would repot her and change the soil to a chunky mix. I use a Tropical plant mix with perlite and miracle grow potting soil also make sure the pot has good drainage and water thoroughly."

Peace lilies need regular repotting with fresh soil to replenish nutrients and ensure proper drainage after watering to prevent root rot. For optimal health, peace lilies should be planted in well-draining, lightweight, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.8 to 6.5).

During their summer growth spurt, they require fertilization every six weeks with a blend rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to maintain their growth. With the correct soil and fertilizer, a peace lily is likely to return to its lush, verdant state.

Dawn also mentioned that yellow leaves on peace lilies should be pruned and to watch for signs of over or under-watering if the plant keeps drooping.

She added: "Cut the yellow leaves off at the base of the stem sometimes yellowing can be the old leaves as this will happen. Peace lilies are drama queens for sure. I water mine when she is 50 to 70 percent dry and she is thriving."
