    Tuesday's Sunrise Forecast

    Tuesday's Sunrise Forecast

What we're tracking: Both upper level and surface high pressure continue to be the driving force behind our summer weather coming up. Think it's bad here? Air temps in N Texas and Oklahoma/Kansas will reach 110+ for a few days. This heat dome will continue over us for several days keeping us in the upper 90s with some in the 100s officially. Sinking air with high pressure will ensure the land heated air stays near the ground, and with calm to very light winds, it'll feel like an oven by late this week. There is a silver lining to high pressure though. With sinking dryer air, our dew points no longer reach the upper 70s during midday. Now, dew points hang in the low-mid 70s bringing heat indices between 105-108, which is better than last week's 113/114. Heat advisories have not been issued yet, but I am i contact with forecasters at NWS Corpus and advisories will likely be issued soon. Clockwise revolving winds around the high pressure dome should also help push any tropical development south of the US Coast, although there are a few tropical waves out there and the NHC is watching one. For more tropical details, read below. Alert Days: <NONE>

Tropical Activity: Currently in the Atlantic, there are THREE tropical waves. The first wave is being watched by the National Hurricane Center ( NHC ) for possible development and just recently entered the Caribbean. NHC suggests 30% probability of this wave becoming a tropical depression or greater within 7 days, although the very latest computer guidance is really starting to agree that this system should remain far south of US Coast with our high pressure dome helping steer it. However, the NHC does suggest the development zone could spread into the GULF, so I will continue watching this system like a hawk the next several days. As of now, this potential Gulf development won't be until this weekend. The other two tropical waves are still far out in the Atlantic. Both are at least a week out from having any possibility of entering the upper Caribbean or Gulf. Stay tuned this week for the latest in tropical development as forecasts with tropical systems WILL change. The Climate Prediction Center ( CPC ) is also projecting an active next couple weeks in the Atlantic. Click here to view their tropical outlook.

    Current Tropical Activity

Next 24 hours: It's summertime and it's hot. Mostly sunny skies today with a few passing clouds in the afternoon will heat highs to the mid-upper 90s in the Crossroads with northwestern counties receiving the brunt of the heat. Gonzales and Karnes Counties could reach 100 for a few moments. Heat indices for most will reach between 105-108. Winds will be pretty calm today and tomorrow allowing the heat to sit at the surface. Tomorrow, highs will be nearly the same but a degree or two warmer bringing more possibly to 100. Rain chances today at 10% for possibly one or two light to moderate showers. Chances dwindle to 0% tomorrow.

    Tuesday's Future Highs

Extended forecast: The heat wave pushes on this week. Temps might drop just a couple degrees going into next week with a cool front stalling in Central Texas. This also brings rain chances to 20% for possible a couple spotty showers. Other than that, no rain or cool down is in sight. See below for your hot 7 Day Crossroads forecast!
