I live in a van & own 12 bits of clothing… people say they ‘couldn’t imagine it’ but I can’t be bothered with laundry

A WOMAN has left social media users open-mouthed after revealing her wardrobe consists of a mere 12 garments.

Whilst the rest of the Western world seems to be too occupied with over-consumerism, Paisley Davis, from South Dakota, the US, is doing the total opposite of ordering new items from ASOS and PrettyLittleThing.

Instead of updating her wardrobe once a month, like 45% per cent of the UK population do, the nomad rotates between the same 12 items in her closet over and over again.

The singleton, who's also ditched the traditional lifestyle for living in a van, recently took to TikTok to model some of the bits she wears on a regular basis.

The former chakra and crystal energy healer, who describes herself as a proud ''hippie'', explained that the lack of clothing has a rather simple explanation.

''I can’t imagine washing that many clothes!'' she chuckled in the caption of a more recent video.

Amongst the items the ex-hot yoga instructor can be seen sporting on several occasions is a cosy striped hoodie she pairs with teeny shorts, as well as a flowy tie-dye vest in bright colours and a tree print in the middle.

On cooler days, meanwhile, she will rock the same colourful top with a thin white shirt and a pair of funky bottoms with khaki elements - these are sometimes replaced with similar trousers but in navy.

Describing her aesthetic, the skinny dipping instructor joked saying she looked like she didn't have a roof over her head.

''I typically call my vibe the homeless look… I’m in shock that people actually like what I wear.''

Although some may struggle having a limited number of clothes in their wardrobe, Paisley said that it fit perfectly with her van lifetyle.

''Minimalism is key when living on the road,'' she explained, noting that it was not impossible.

''If I can do this, anyone can do this!''

Shocked by her minimalist approach, dozens scrambled to comments where they expressed admiration.

One chuckled: ''I probably have about 3000+ items of clothing, I probably stick to the same 12 things as well.''

Another struggled to wrap their head around the limited wardrobe, writing: ''I couldn’t even imagine. I wear 12 different pieces of clothes just throughout the course of one day.''

A third chimed in: ''Amazing sense of style, love a Boho capsule wardrobe.''

Is it legal to live in a van?

IF you are looking to live in a van to save money or travel, you'll be pleased to know that there are no UK laws stopping you.

However, you must ensure your vehicle has passed its MOT and is fully road legal.

There could also be restrictions on where you can park up to sleep in your van.

For example, local authorities place restrictions on certain streets or lay-bys, and you could be fined if you spend the night there.

It could also be unsafe to stop in certain locations, particularly at night-time.

Opening up about her experience with living full-time in a van, Paisley said it's the best way ''to travel the world and make all sorts of new friends''.

''I'd say that I had never found my authentic self until living in a van full-time, humbled and free.

''I can't imagine giving up that freedom that i have living this lifestyle.''
