Manchester United are reportedly set to secure deals for Bayern Munich pair Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui this summer, but they will need help .

However, the Red Devils face a significant challenge in meeting Bayern's high valuation due to financial restrictions imposed by the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

United have already made promising early summer signings, including a £36.5million deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, marking the beginning of INEOS' influence over recruitment.

They then pulled off a major coup by persuading Lille defender Leny Yoro to join them in a £52m move, beating off competition from Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

United had been considering bringing in a second centre-back before the 18-year-old suffered a foot injury during a friendly match against Arsenal last month, ruling him out for three months.

This unfortunate incident has increased the pressure on Erik ten Hag to strengthen his defence, leading to an initial approach to Bayern.

The Bundesliga giants reportedly rejected a double deal proposal involving both De Ligt and Mazraoui, despite telling both players they are free to leave this summer.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, United are still expected to secure the services of both players before the summer transfer deadline.

Bayern are reportedly demanding a combined £60m, a fee which United are not prepared to pay as negotiations between the two clubs continue.

The Red Devils might have to offload more players to finance their ambitious transfer plans, having already pocketed close to £50m from the departure of four first-team members this summer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's anticipated move to West Ham United could pave the way for Noussair Mazraoui's arrival, though Matthijs de Ligt remains a more challenging prospect to secure.

To muster the funds necessary for De Ligt, Manchester United may look to profit from Scott McTominay, who has garnered significant interest from both Fulham and Galatasaray.

Moreover, it's understood that the Old Trafford outfit is open to bids for Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Antony, and Jadon Sancho.

Erik ten Hag, reflecting on United's pre-season performance against Liverpool, expressed his hope for additional signings.

"It is always difficult to say. We hope. We are always looking, and this new leadership team is really eager to do business and make deals," said Ten Hag.

"They are on it. But we have to wait if the timing is there and if the opportunities are there."
