And while it isn’t official they are WWE-bound, it is known that the company is at least interested in Penta. However, there is now a big sign they will be departing as according to Ibou of the WrestlingPurists podcast , AEW canceled their All In match for later this month, and his sources have told him that their joining WWE is considered “ a formality. “

“When the match got canceled, I asked around internally … multiple sources within AEW told me, basically made it clear to me, that the Lucha Brothers are expected to depart AEW at the end of their contract, some of them speculated that WWE was the destination, others outright said to me that it was a formality.”

While not much is known about the brothers on a personal level, it’s understood they began training at the same time despite being several years apart in age. And while both would start as singles competitors and have achieved great individual success, they have notably held gold in AEW, Impact Wrestling, MLW, PWG, ROH, and AAA as a team. Therefore, if they join WWE as expected, it seems that another tag team championship awaits them.
