North Texas will see a few more hot days before temperatures cool down Friday. There is a slight rain chance beginning Friday, but it will not be a widespread event.

Tuesday started with temperatures in the 70s with a light south wind.

A bubble of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will continue to control the weather through Thursday. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 90s today, and low 100s Wednesday and Thursday. Morning lows will be in the 70s. The air quality will be poor as well.

Changes are coming by Friday when the upper-level ridge of high pressure will back off to the west allowing a weak cold front to settle into the area Friday afternoon. This front will stall across North Texas through the weekend. A series of upper-level disturbances will ride the northwest flow in the upper levels out of the Texas Panhandle into North Texas. Scattered showers and storms are expected as soon as Friday afternoon and then again Saturday and Sunday.

Afternoon highs through the period will only reach the mid to upper 90s on Friday, and low to mid 90s on Saturday and Sunday, depending on cloud cover and precipitation. If you see more sunshine, you'll be a bit warmer. We start to dry out again on Monday with highs back in the mid to upper 90s.
