The romantic Chinese drama The Best Day of My Life, starring Zhang Jiongmin and Jiang Zhinan, recently released its series finale. The series tells the sweet and simple love story of high school friends Xu Mu (Jiang Zhinan) and Xie Shi (Zhang Jiongmin) as they cross paths as adults. Episode 14 focuses on the couple’s happy married life.

Xu Mu’s parents welcome him into their family with open arms. They make him feel loved and treat him like their own son. Xie Shi spends the whole day chatting with the Xu family, eating Mrs. Xu’s homecooked meal, and taking a family photograph. At night, Xu Mu and Xie Shi watch a movie on the terrace.

Xie Shi pauses the film midway and plays snippets from the street interview that marked the beginning of their acquaintance. He tells her that she is his destiny and also his origin, and his life is incomplete without her. Xie Shi gets on one knee, takes out a ring, and asks Xu Mu to marry him again. Xu Mu accepts.

Xu Mu and Xie Shi’s married life seems to be going great. Meanwhile, Nian Nian and Shen Yi are also married and happy with one another. The next scene takes viewers six years later. Nian Nian and Shen Yi have a son named Huanghuang, who is greatly fond of Xie Shi. The two couples celebrate Huanghuang’s birthday together.

Seeing how much Xie Shi enjoys spending time with Huanghunag, Nian Nian asks Xu Mu if they are planning to have a child soon. She and her husband leave Huanghuang with Xu Mu and Xie Shi when they leave home for a few days.

Spending time with a sensible kid like Huanghuang makes Xu Mu realize that raising a kid is not so difficult. She discusses this with Xie Shi, although she knows that he doesn’t want to have a child because of his own traumatic past involving his father. She once overheard him talking to Shen Yi. But Xie Shi’s answer surprises her. He dismissed her concern and said the two plan on having a child in the near future.

Further into the episode, Xu Mu conceives her first child. When she shares this good news with Xie Shi, he is elated. The two get busy planning what to do when the baby comes.

The next scene shows Xu Mu and Xie Shi’s child, Jiang Yule. He mentions that his father calls him by his full name, while his mother calls him Manman. The kid shows viewers around the house and how Xie Shi is caring towards Xu Mu and his son despite having a miserable childhood.

Jiang Yule shows pictures from his parents’ memorial album. It shows snippets from the couple’s relationship. From their first public photo to their photos from other events. The family of three heads out for somewhere. The last scene of the series shows them taking wedding photos by the sea.
