Charles Barkley is Smarter Than You Think

Charles Barkley's name is in the news so much you think he was running for president. Although he'd likely earn a higher approval rating than both major political parties, the NBA personality is currently busy commenting on the Warner Bros. Discovery lawsuit against the NBA .

While Barkley flip-flopped between who he was upset with regarding the four-decade partnership ending, it seems Barkley understands the NBA's side more than his incumbent employer.

Barkley appeared on the Podcast P show to theorize what happened in the negotiation room between Adam Silver and WB CEO David Zaslav.

“I’m talking out my a**, I want to make that clear,” Barkley said. “I think the NBA said, ‘You can match,’ but they meant ESPN or NBC. You don’t get to match the Amazon offer… Because when we said you all could match, Amazon didn’t exist. I don’t think (NBA commissioner) Adam Silver would leave himself open to lose a lawsuit. He was a lawyer, and I think he’s too smart," Barkley claimed.

According to John Ourand of the Puck, who reported on the dispute early on, Barkley's claim is quite accurate.

Barkley went on to lament how horrible it is for so many people to be out on a job and stated, "We screwed it up."

Unless a TNT miracle occurs, the Inside the NBA crew have the 2024-25 season to go out on a bang. As Barkley said, "It's going to be a bittersweet year."
