The first semifinalist for the Olympics has emerged. Despite going down by double-digits early in the game, Germany managed to neutralize Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece in their quarterfinal game. The result was a resounding, 76-63, win that sent them to their first Olympic top-four finish.

Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner led Germany with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Unsurprisingly, Giannis was the top point-getter for Greece with 22 points, two rebounds, and three assists.

After the game, Wagner revealed that most of their game plan against Greece revolved around Giannis Antetokounmpo.

"Giannis [Antetokounmpo] was more than half of the scouting report," Wagner said, per Ben Golliver. "It takes all 5 on the court to stop him."

After quietly being one of the best young forwards in the league, Wagner broke out last season for the Magic. He averaged career-highs across the board with 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Wagner was also part of the 2023 German team that won the FIBA World Cup in the Philippines, where he played a pivotal role in the gold medal game against Serbia. Now, Wagner is showing off his skills in the Olympics. He is Germany's leading scorer with 20.8 points per game on 50% shooting from the field.

As for Antetokounmpo, his Olympic debut ends despite a valiant effort from the two-time NBA MVP. He was the leading scorer and rebounder for Greece, averaging 25.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in four games played.

Germany now awaits the winner of the quarterfinal match between Canada and France later in the day.
