Saying that Noah Lyles is confident would be an understatement. After all, he's overflowing with it, so much so that he has divided his social media followers with his latest remarks.

After winning gold in the 100m final, Lyles now shifts his focus to the 200m race. Despite beating Jamaica's Kishane Thompson by just 0.005 seconds in the 100m battle, though, the U.S. sprinter is not concerned by another tight showdown.

In fact, the 27-year-old track star believes he will dominate once again.

" None of them is winning . When I come off the turn, they will be depressed," Lyles warned his rivals, per ESPN.

The remarks, however, split his followers and turned them into fans and critics. While many loved the confidence, others emphasized that he's already being arrogant by not respecting his Olympic rivals.

"Hate all you want, he has the right to talk," a fan commented. Another supporter shared, "Talkin like this and backin' it up while everyone is hoping u fail is a different type of tuff."

A critic, nonetheless, pointed out: "People are mistaking this with confidence lmao, this is arrogance."

Another critical social media user chimed in, "Bro is the mega villain."

"His confidence is not Noahrmal. It needs to be studied," a detractor added.

Noah Lyles qualified for Wednesday's semifinal after winning his heat in Round 1. Lyles won the final heat in Monday's race in 20.19 seconds. His fellow Americans, Kenny Bednarek (19.96 seconds) and Erriyon Knighton (19.99), won their respective heats as well and recorded better times than Lyles.

It remains to be seen if Lyles can walk the talk, but the wait shouldn't be too long to find out. Should he advance further, the final of the race is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8.
