The Chicago White Sox simply cannot catch a break.

On Monday night, they fell 5-1 against the Oakland Athletics and dropped to 27-88 on the season. That's good for the worst record in all of Major League Baseball.

They're losing skid also reached 21 games, which ties them with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the most consecutive losses in American League history. But that wasn't the only low point they reached on Monday night.

Scott Merkin of MLB.com tweeted about the loss and how it sent the White Sox to yet another new low.

"Along with tying the AL record losing streak at 21 and falling to 0-17 since the All-Star break, the White Sox drop to 0-14 on games played on Monday for the season," Merkin wrote in his tweet.

The run of futility continues for the White Sox. But the fact that 21 straight losses isn't the only unfortunate mark they reached is certainly telling.

The team had lost four straight games prior to the All-Star break, which is what kicked off the losing skid.

But there likely will be more unfortunate marks they can reach before the season ends. Monday clearly hasn't been their day, as they have not won on game on that day of the week this year.

Nothing is going right for the South Siders, and it might be only a matter of time before some much-needed changes are made. They are closer to 90 losses than they are to a mere 30 wins.
