The Cincinnati Bengals are trying to climb back into the upper echelon of teams in the AFC in 2024 after falling off track in 2023.

Coming off back-to-back AFC title game appearances including a Super Bowl trip, last season did not go as planned for Cincinnati. In order to get back to the big game, the Bengals will likely have to go through the 2x defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs .

The good news for the team is that when Joe Burrow has been on the field, they have for the most part fared very well against Kansas City, sporting a 3-1 record. Burrow was asked by Kay Adams of Up and Adams what it's like facing off against Patrick Mahomes , who the Bengals will face this season early on in Week 2 .

"I think you gotta go out and not be scared to make mistakes, you gotta go out and make plays cause you know he's gonna go out and make plays and that brings out the best in me," Burrow said of Mahomes . "It's always an exciting challenge when we go against each other. It's an opportunity every time you go against him too, because you know all eyes are gonna be on it...we've played each other so many times now you get to know the guys on defense...when you know each other in and out like that it always makes for a tough game that's for sure."

The Bengals travel back to Kansas City on September 15 for a Week 2 clash that Cincinnati fans will hope is the preview to another epic playoff matchup between the two AFC sides.
