Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen believes his compatriot Arne Slot will be "an instant success" at Liverpool this season.
A summer of change has unfolded around Anfield over the course of the last few months, with Slot taking over from the departing Jurgen Klopp . The German exited stage left back in May, with the Reds appointing former Feyenoord boss Slot as his successor.
In replacing Klopp, Slot has massive shoes to fill. Not only was Klopp a masterful tactician, capable of squeezing every ounce of quality from his squad whilst also improving his players ten-fold, he was tremendously popular with Liverpool supporters, who may take time to warm to Slot.

However, Meulensteen, who worked alongside the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson believes Slot will be a huge success on Merseyside, hailed the new Liverpool boss as "a very good communicator" who fans will "very quickly take a liking to".
Rene Meulensteen, speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Champions League betting , said: "I can see Arne Slot being an instant success at Liverpool, I like his style a lot.
"From what I know of him, the times I’ve spoken to him and what I’ve seen of him at Feyenoord, he brought them back from being a big name but a poor club to being a big club who won the league, the cup and also did well in Europe.

"He has a very distinctive style. He's very clear in what he wants to do. He is very much following on from Jurgen Klopp and I don’t think you will see too many differences other than a few tweaks. He's a very good communicator.
"It's very hard to follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp because of his charisma and the relationship he had with the fans and everybody else at the club, but Arne Slot is a very good appointment in that respect. I think a lot of fans will very, very quickly take a liking to him because of the way that he conducts himself, and also the way he wants Liverpool to play.
He added: "If he can hit the ground running he could be an instant success. Yes, he doesn't know the Premier League as such because he hasn't really worked here but I'm sure he's got people around him that can help him with that. I think he will do well."
Liverpool.com says: "Liverpool fans will hope Meulensteen is right about Slot, because if he is, the Reds could be about to embark on an incredibly successful season. Last term, Liverpool ran Arsenal and Manchester City close before the pair pulled away from the Reds in the Premier League title race, with the latter once again hoisting the trophy on the final day at the Etihad.
If Slot can add another dimension to Liverpool's attack, and possible help their forwards not named Mohamed Salah out in front of goal, then there's no reason why the Reds can't challenge for the Premier League this term."
