After five years and four seasons, The Umbrella Academy is coming to an end.

Stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min and Ritu Arya reunited at the show’s final season premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, where the group weighed in on the series’ soon-to-be-released ending.

“I think the fans are going to get the ending that the show deserves. The task that the writers had to figure out, how to tie all these storylines up and close this chapter for this family, was probably incredibly hard, I know it was incredibly hard,” Raver-Lampman told The Hollywood Reporter. “So I think it is an ending that we’re all proud of, and I think the fans will love.”

The show follows the super-powered, adopted children of billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares them to save the world before his death. Hopper added that he also thinks the finale is “a really good finish to the whole show, I think it ties up a lot of loose ends. I’m really pleased with how it ended up,” and Castañeda promised a clean-cut, non-cliffhanger ending.

As for closing this major chapter in their careers — with the show becoming a breakout hit on Netflix and getting the opportunity to finish it on the team’s terms — Page said he approached the final season remembering that “you can be more tired, or it’s a long day, but it was really nice to know how precious the time was and playing that character for.”

Min echoed those bittersweet sentiments, saying it was “sweet in the sense that [we’re] very grateful that we got to close out the season in the way that we did and that we knew it was going to be the last season going in. But bitter of course because this has really become my family — the cast, the crew, we’ve been with these people for over six years now, so it’s hard to say goodbye.”

The cast also offered up some potential spinoff ideas, with Min suggesting one with Sheehan and Gallagher, and Hopper pitching “a Hargreeves spinoff, to see what he was up to before the Umbrella Academy existed.”

Raver-Lampman added, “I think this show has some incredible villains, so I don’t know. I feel like I would love an origin story of Gene and Jean [played by Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally], or The Handler [Kate Walsh], mostly because I’d love to see her costumes. And I’m also a huge Cameron Britton [who plays Hazel] fan so he can have a spinoff any day in my book.”

The Umbrella Academy season four hits Netflix on Thursday.
