WBD Not Finished with Charles Barkley

Warner Bros. Discovery doesn't know when to call it quits, and perhaps Charles Barkley shares such a trait with his infamous boss, David Zaslav. WBD is attempting to sue the NBA for not abiding by its "contractual right," Barkley hasn't minced words about the subject.

However, WBD reportedly has plans to convince Barkley not to retire, even if TNT doesn't keep the NBA after the 2024-25 season.

According to The Puck's John Ourand's reporting, Zaslav wants to make Barkley more than just a basketball commentator.

“There are several options that are out there, including staying with Warner Bros. Discovery,” Ourand explained. “David Zaslav has told people that even having lost the NBA, Charles Barkley is still a bona fide television star. He’s great on television. And they have other sports that are there. They have March Madness, Barkley has been part of their hockey coverage here and there, and they want to just do more in sports, and he could expand from just doing NBA to being a sports commentator perhaps.”

Although Barkley appears on other shows for WBD, the relationship between him and the company that seemingly lost the NBA seems lost. Likely, Barkley would rather retire than work harder for the person responsible for breaking up Inside the NBA.

Barkley recently revealed he spoke with other NBA media partners, but there is a twist: the TNT star's deal doesn't include an opt-out clause.

Unless Zaslav lets him walk to another company, Barkley has three options: retire, do multiple jobs with WBD, or convince Zaslav to release him from the deal.
